Four Years Wonderful

Can you believe it?  My oldest little boy turned 4 today!  He had a wonderful day, thoroughly enjoying and understanding the concept of birthday more than he has in the past.  Thanks to all our family and friends who contributed in different ways to making today special.  Little B felt very loved, which warms my mommy heart:)

Wake up conversation this morning...

Me: Four years ago today I was so excited because I got to meet you for the very first time!
Little B: I was so excited too!!

Little B came home from preschool bubbling over with birthday excitement.  It may have been the birthday crown, or maybe the fact that Gramma picked him up.  Why, you may ask, is he standing next to a polar bear on our wall?  Because he asked for a polar bear birthday party of course!  (And no, I have no idea where that idea came from.  But kudos to Auntie A for making this "pin the mittens on the polar bear" game!)

Grammas are good for lots of things, but especially making birthday cakes...especially polar bear cakes.  Although it should be noted that Little B did the face;)

In typical Little B fashion, as soon as we started singing Happy Birthday and all the attention focused on him, he curled into his little turtle shell and wanted nothing to do with the festivities.  I'm not kidding, he literally curled down in his chair trying to hide from everyone.  Hubby T and I coaxed him up to at least look at the cake that Gramma and I put so much effort into.  He didn't blow out the candle, or have any of the cake.  I guess Yiayia's month old frozen gluten free brownies were more appealing to his independent four year old mind!

Don't worry though - the birthday boy came out of his shell for presents.  Once all the party guests had gone home we cleared some space and let him ride his new scooter around the kitchen and family room.  And kudos to Grampa for finding the icing on the cake for this gift - a Jake and the Neverland Pirates helmet:)

And where, you might ask, was Baby P in the midst of all this?  Just hanging out, playing with his brother's new toys on the side, and probably wondering what all the fuss was about.

So happy birthday Little B.  You bring us so much joy, and I can't wait to see what the coming year brings:)
